Microgreens Smoothie: A Green Smoothie That Actually Tastes Good
If you have tried green smoothies that taste like grass, this one is different. Broccoli microgreens are mild, and blended with banana and mango you will hardly taste them, which makes this a good way to get microgreens into kids.
Ingredients
Serves: 2 glasses · Prep: 5 min · Cook: none
- 1 cup broccoli microgreens (or sunflower microgreens)
- 1 ripe banana
- ½ cup mango or pineapple pieces
- 1 cup chilled milk, curd or coconut water
- 1 tsp honey (optional)
- A few mint leaves
Method
- Rinse the microgreens and shake off the water.
- Add everything to a blender, with the liquid first so it blends smoothly.
- Blend for 45 to 60 seconds until completely smooth.
- Taste, add honey if needed, and drink immediately.
Which microgreens to blend
- Best for smoothies: broccoli, sunflower, alfalfa and clover. All mild.
- Use sparingly: radish and mustard. Their pepperiness comes through strongly.
- Wheatgrass: too fibrous for a regular blender smoothie. Blend wheatgrass with a little water, strain, and add 2 to 3 tbsp of the juice to your smoothie, or drink it as a shot.
