Why Microgreens?
An honest, practical guide — what microgreens are, why variety matters, and how they fit into meals you already cook.
What Are Microgreens?
Microgreens are young vegetable and herb greens, harvested just days after sprouting, once the first true leaves appear. They sit between a sprout and a fully grown vegetable — small, tender, and full of flavor.
Why Are They Different From Mature Greens?
Because they're harvested so early, microgreens have a more concentrated flavor and a different, more delicate texture than the same plant grown to full size. A microgreen radish tastes noticeably more peppery than a mature radish leaf, for instance.
Why Variety Matters
Microgreens aren't one single food — different varieties bring different flavors, textures, colors and culinary uses. Radish is peppery and crisp; pea shoots are sweet and tender; mustard is sharp; fenugreek is earthy and familiar to Indian cooking; mild varieties like kohlrabi and pak choi are gentle and versatile. Rotating between them gives your meals more variety, not just "more of one thing."
How Veda Grows Them: In Water, Not Soil
Veda grows microgreens hydroponically. The roots sit in clean water instead of soil, and nutrients go straight to them in measured amounts, so every tray grows in the same controlled conditions. Your greens arrive free of soil and grit, ready to rinse and eat. We seed to order, so a new subscription or custom order is ready about a week after you place it.
How to Add Them to Everyday Indian Meals
A handful is usually enough. Add microgreens to dal, roti, paratha, dosa, sandwiches, salads, rice bowls, wraps, soups or stir-fries — anywhere a fresh, crisp element would work. They're best added just before serving, not cooked for long, so they keep their texture.
How to Store Them
Keep the pack refrigerated and use within about 4–5 days of delivery. Rinse gently right before eating rather than washing and storing them wet.

What Veda Does — and Does Not — Claim
Veda sells fresh microgreens as a food. We don't position them as medicine, and we don't claim they treat, cure or prevent any health condition, replace medicines or supplements, or substitute for a balanced diet. What we do believe: they're a simple, tasty way to add fresh plant variety to meals you already eat.
